little jobs, BIG role

Ok, let’s be real for a second. Being an intern isn’t always about the glamour. Actually, it rarely is. This week I did some pretty unglamorous small jobs. But, at the end of the week, I realized that I played a vital role.

It basically consisted of stuffing mail, sending e-blasts, and putting our events on Dallas area calendars. I quite literally spent a whole workday putting donation letters into envelopes to mail to everyone on our mailing list. Yet, my coworkers were doing some of the same small jobs with me.

TITAS Presents is a small team of four, which means, everybody does a little bit of everything. Sometimes, we all have to pitch in to get the job done. This means the event coordinator might have to write a one-page blurb or the finance director might have to put stamps on envelopes. Many times, the lines are blurred, and you have to step up.

In the picture above, you will see an email blast sent out for an upcoming performance we are presenting. I picked that photo. I know...small job but, vital role. When I saw the email, I sent a picture to a couple of my friends because I was that proud. At that moment, I understood my role as intern. And then suddenly, those unglamorous small things turned into full on glitz.

So, always do your part, no matter how small. It helps make the business run.

Turn your not so glam tasks into something exciting. I promise, it will help you get through it.

And remember, you play a vital role.

With love,

Joi
